Monday 26th November at 1900 @ Gin Pit Village Club Astley, Tyldesley, M29 7DW
The Lancashire Mining Museum at Astley Green is holding a volunteers event to invite people to come and see what progress has been made at the museum. Volunteers will also be revealing plans to develop it into a world class heritage site and community asset. But they can’t achieve everything without some more volunteers joining their current team. Could you help create a family woodland walk, a heritage trail, help run and maintain a railway, help restore Fred Dibnah’s headgear or an 1840’s horse gin? Do you have skills to help with recording our archives, do you love meeting folk and getting them to share their mining stories, could you role play characters on our numerous event days or help create some guided tours of this amazing and unique part of our Lancashire history?
There are so many ways to get involved but the first step is to come and meet the team on Monday evening.
Alan Davis the author of numerous books on the coal industry will also be giving a talk on the history of mining in the area and we will be presenting a powerpoint presentation of the 5 year forward masterplan for the development of the museum. Why not come along and see what we have planned for the future.
