Railway Running at the Mining Museum

After a lot of work by the volunteers we finally got the train running along the whole length of laid track last Sunday.

This week we send the weedkiller train down to clear the lines and ensure the ballast is free draining.

All this is progress towards getting the railway functioning. We have had a positive response from the railway inspectorate, who just wants some jobs completing before they will sign off the current lengths of track for public running, but we are hopeful this can be completed fairly soon. All this work is carried out by unpaid volunteers, in their spare time, so how quickly is dependant on the level of support we get. If you would like to be part of this development at the museum or know anyone that would like to help please contact us.
