We have finally got permission from Historic England to appoint structural engineers to prepare a report on the condition of the headgear. They have provided funding for this work out of this years budget but the Charity is likely to have to find some funding to get the job completed.
This is the last surviving headgear in the whole of the Lancashire coalfield and is a grade 2 Listed structure with Historic England and also a scheduled monument.
If we can get the engineers on board before the middle of March we may be able to complete emergency repairs this summer before another winter does untold damage to the metal structure.
If you would like to donate to this effort to save the headgear. Please click on the PayPal link below where secure payments can be made by credit card via the Paypal portal
As of yet we don’t know how much we will need to find but any donations received will go to save the most iconic structure left in the whole coalfield
